Don't you love the light shining through the rudder...?

  1

Leveled the plane sideways, and leveled a long ruler on blocks on the floor , so I could measure the distances from the ruler to the tips of the elevator. Used some thin aluminum shims under the support brackets to get the elevator perfectly horizontal.

Drilled the holes in the strut , bolted them, and tightened up the turnbuckles.

The elevator feels very solid.

2   Glued the leading edge  1/32" plywood on the defective first wing. I found the easiest way to achieve a tight fit is to use a double layer of 1" tape. Tape one side first, put T-88 on both the nose ribs and the plywood, and pull the tape tight.   2hrs

Well guys, at this point , it looks like I will be on "sabbatical" until I come back from France on January 5, 2005... I suppose I needed a break to recover from a bout of winter blues, the dope fumes, and gather the energy to finish the plane. I will shave my 30 year beard in January to get a better fit for my "gas mask" before I cover and dope the wings.

I wish you all a Merry Chrismas and a Happy new Year.
