NUMBER
ONE
I
feel that the majority of sites on the web are ugly, too busy,
garish, and badly designed. And that includes the sites of
many major corporations. The navigation is often confusing
and one ends up lost , or going round and round looking for
stuff . All kinds of fancy bells and whistles are used for
no good purpose at all but amuse the site designer nerds and
make them more money. And how about waiting for ever for graphics
or images to download? Well , if you don't have DSL yet , there
is really not much I can do! Get it , you are missing all the
fun...
NUMBER
TWO
Putting
together a website
is not as hard and time consuming as site designers would
have you think. So it should really not be that expensive.
Maintaining a site depends on how often you change stuff,
and how much you change, but should not cost an arm and a
leg . I charge $35 an hour, and I work very fast .
NUMBER
THREE
I
believe that simplicity is key to both style and ease of
use in web design . The choice of font type and size is very
important , based on graphic qualities and readability (even
though we cannot control exactly how the site and fonts will
look on other computers) . Color and effects should be used
sparingly and consistently . A balance should be achieved
between loading speed and size of graphics . Intros should
be short , and have something to do with the product , rather
than being just spinning red squares , green circles and
flashing buttons...
NUMBER
FOUR
I
have been an Artist and a Designer for a long time , and
now bring that experience to web design . I can create for
you a beautiful no nonsense site , easy to use, and with
all the bells and whistles you desire (as long as they serve
a purpose ). It can be very minimalistic , almost zen, or
very elaborate , with animation , virtual reality, and interactive
graphics. Your choice . Remember that design should follow
function, and that more is not always better...Keep in mind
that many people have older computers with older browsers,
and can't see the fancy stuff anyway .
